The Architecture Archives (“we,” “us,” or “the site”) respects your privacy. This policy describes what information we collect when you visit https://thearchitecturearchives.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at contact@thearchitecturearchives.com.
Who we are
The Architecture Archives is a blog publishing editorial content about historical architecture. The site is operated by The Architecture Archives, based in South Carolina, United States.
What we collect and why
Newsletter signups. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. We use this only to send you the newsletter. The list is stored and managed by [Beehiiv / Substack / ConvertKit / your platform], which processes the data on our behalf under their own privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email; your address is removed promptly when you do.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. This service collects anonymized data such as the pages you visit, your approximate location (country/region), the device and browser you’re using, and the site that referred you. We do not collect your IP address in a form that personally identifies you. We have configured Google Analytics to anonymize IP addresses.
Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information — IP address, browser type, time of visit — for security and troubleshooting. These logs are retained for 90 days and are not used for marketing.
Embedded content. Posts on this site may include embedded content from third parties (e.g., YouTube videos, Instagram posts, image galleries). When such content loads, the third party may set its own cookies and collect data about your visit. We do not control these third parties; their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
What we don’t collect
We do not currently accept comments on the site. We do not require user accounts. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.
Cookies
Our site uses a small number of cookies to function properly and to power the analytics described above. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some site features may not work as expected if you do.
Images and media
Images on this site are either licensed from Shutterstock and other commercial providers, sourced from Wikimedia Commons under their respective Creative Commons or public domain licenses, or in the public domain. Image attributions are noted where required by license.
Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can: ask what personal information we hold about you; ask us to correct or delete it; or unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. Send requests to contact@thearchitecturearchives.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.
California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of any sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.
EU/UK residents: Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding your personal data. The legal basis for processing your newsletter subscription is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
Children’s privacy
This site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated through the newsletter or a prominent notice on the site.
